Eme Magazine
Eme was the capstone project for my Journalism degree, developed collaboratively by a five-woman team. The project resulted in a printed magazine created to explore gender issues and reflect on the spaces women occupy in society.
I was solely responsible for the project's branding and visual design, developing its visual identity, editorial design, and all graphic materials. I also contributed to the broader project through editorial editing, content creation, social media assets, WhatsApp communication, and the crowdfunding campaign. Additionally, I co-authored one of the magazine's feature stories.

Brand Identity
I designed a geometric typographic logo intended to stand out on the magazine cover, with its letterforms also developed as graphic elements that became a key part of the project's visual identity, extending across the magazine and promotional materials.
Typography and color choices were driven by both technical and conceptual considerations. I selected Embury Text for its excellent readability and because it was designed by Victoria Rushton, whose research explores gender stereotypes in typography.
The color palette combines references to the historical symbolism of the women's suffrage movement with complementary and analogous colors to ensure visual harmony and accessibility.
I also created original digital collages that became one of the magazine's defining visual features, serving both as a storytelling device and as a consistent aesthetic thread.
Editorial Design
Following extensive research into established editorial publications, I developed the magazine's graphic system to optimize printing costs without compromising readability, hierarchy, or visual rhythm.
The resulting layout system is flexible enough to accommodate the different editorial sections while maintaining a cohesive visual identity throughout the publication.
Campaign
To support the crowdfunding campaign, we expanded Eme into a multimedia project by producing complementary Instagram content introducing the magazine, presenting its editorial concept, and previewing its feature stories.
